Technology Gap

There is a significant technology gap in the United States.  I’m not referring to the gap between rich and poor; I’m talking about the one between “computer literate” and “computer illiterate” people.  There are a ton of people from many age groups who self-label as “technology illiterate”.  These people, while surviving in today’s world of modern electronics, don’t have the will or skill to learn, in depth, basic technology.

Because I am in the web programming business, I have to keep this in mind on a moment-to-moment basis.

If I need to make a webpage accessible to everyone, it has to be clear, and free of clutter that could distract a user who does not know for what to look.  Inevitably, there will be users whose skills are so lacking, that even the most simple of web page designs elude them.

I want this technology gap to be diminished.  I want to figure out what keeps someone from being able to figure out how to use a computer/phone/website.
